Karachi violence case: IB reported presented in SC
Updated at: 1333 PST, Friday, September 09, 2011KARACHI: The hearing of the suo moto Karachi violence case was adjourned on Friday till September 13, Geo News reported.
The five member bench of the Supreme Court is headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry. During Friday’s proceedings Attorney General, Maulvi Anwau-ul-Haq presented the report of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to the bench.
Advocate General Sindh, Fateh Malik presented a summary of different cases from July 24 till August 24. The Chief Justice directed the Advocate General to provide details of the firing on a bus in Banaras and the kidnapping of footballers in Lyari.
IG Sindh, Wajid Durrani also appeared before the court and said that 40% of police officers had political affiliations. The Chief Justice remarked the court had ordered that shoulder promotions be stopped but this was not implemented in Sindh.
