Young Frenchman too heavy to fly will go home by ship

NEW YORK CITY: A young Frenchman who weighs 230 kilograms (500 pounds) and was deemed too heavy to fly on a jetliner arrived in New York Tuesday to head home by ship.

Kevin Chenais and his parents arrived at Penn Station in New York by train from Chicago. They will stay at a hotel in Brooklyn until they catch the Queen Mary 2 for England.

Chenais, 22, has a hormone imbalance and came to the United States from France in 2012 for obesity treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Chicago.

He had planned to fly home in late October but British Airways refused to let him board the plane on the grounds he was too fat.

The family spent more than a week at a hotel near Chicago airport as they tried to resolve the situation.

On Monday they decided to take a train to New York, from where they will sail for England on November 19........................................//

 HEALTH AWARENESS WELFARE (HAW):

E-cigarettes could save millions of lives, conference told

// LONDON: Switching to e-cigarettes could save millions of smokers' lives, a conference on the rapidly expanding use of the devices has heard, though some delegates warned more research on the health effects is needed.

The merits of e-cigarettes were thrashed out at a one-day gathering of some 250 scientists, experts, policymakers and industry figures at the Royal Society in London.

The use of electronic cigarettes - battery-powered devices that simulate smoking by heating and vaporising a liquid solution containing nicotine - has grown rapidly, with tobacco manufacturers jumping on the trend.

Sales have doubled annually for the past four years and there are an estimated seven million users across Europe.

European lawmakers last month threw out a bid to curb sales of e-cigarettes by classifying them as medicinal products..............................//

COMMENT - CONCERN - OPINION - SAY = REFLECTION:

Since E-cigarette has been discussed in gathering of 250 scientists and experts regrading its less harm in comparison to common cigarettes, its a news for the cigarette smokers, although they (the smokers) should keep themselves well aware of the updated information on the topic as much possible.

My dad carried the pain of war, alone

// (CNN) -- Every war veteran has stories. They can be shocking, harrowing, tragic -- sometimes even funny. The problem for families trying to understand those experiences, on Veterans Day and every day, is that they won't hear much about them. Many vets have trouble talking about them.

This was the case with my father, who saw lots of action as an artilleryman in the Philippines during World War II. When I was a kid, I'd beg him for tales about the war. Usually, he waved me away. Sometimes, though, he gave in to my badgering................//

Only a soldier can understand how another soldier feels and reacts because they are like minded people, whereas a civilian's world is different with a soldier cannot share his or her feelings. Similarly a civilian can share his or her feelings well enough with another civilian.

Therefore, there remains a communication gap between these two kinds of people, and such a tragic communication gap should be tried to fill up, otherwise, both these kinds of people would remain almost strangers to each other.

Saudi says first camel tests positive for MERS virus

// RIYADH: The Saudi government said Monday that a camel has tested positive for MERS, in the first case of an animal infected with the coronavirus that has killed 64 people worldwide.

A camel owned by a person diagnosed with the disease had "tested positive in preliminary laboratory checks," the health ministry said in a statement carried by SPA state news agency.

The ministry said it was working with the ministry of agriculture and laboratories to "isolate the virus and compare its genetic structure with that of the patient's".

If the virus carried by the camel and that of the patient "prove to be identical, this would be a first scientific discovery worldwide, and a door to identify the source of the virus," it added............................//

Creative Living Awareness Welfare (CLAW):

// It’s not easy to calm down and think straight during a heated exchange, but wives who do may have happier marriages.

Every couple argues, and some conflict may not be bad for building a relationship. But when spats become heated, that’s when blame, criticism and name-calling spew forth, sometimes unintentionally. And too much of that isn’t as good for marital happiness, as plenty of research shows.

There are no secrets to stopping the tirade — each couple has their own way of resolving differences. But, say researchers from the University of California Berkeley and Northwestern University, the happiness of a marriage may depend in part on who makes the first conciliatory move to lower the emotional temperature........//
